How to Lengthed Nylon Cord in a Loaded Echo Speed Feed 400 Universal Trimmer Head
Tap-To-Advance Style Trimmer Heads:
GT Single-Line Replacement Spool (Part #21560040) (GT Models) (Discontinued):
Nylon Line Installation:
1. Shut engine off. Lay unit on the ground with head assembly up.
2. Push in housing tab and remove cover and button.
3. Rmove spool from housing. Assure spring stays in housing.
4. Use one piece of new nylon line, 15 ft. long and thread end of line one inch through molded loop in spool in the direction of arrow on spool.
5. Hold spool with words "THIS SIDE UP" facing you and wind line tightly and evenly in the directionof arrow on spool (clockwise). Leave 5 to 6 in. of line protruding.
6. Thread line end through housing eyelet. Install spool into housing over spring and be sure spool is installed so that the wordds "THIS SIDE UP" are visible.
7. Place button on spool and align cover pegs with housing holes; push down on cover until cover locks in place.
8. Before using, test head. Push center button while pulling on line. Trimmer line should advance approximately one inch.

GT ECHOmatic Dual Line Head (Part #99944200240) (GT Models) (Discontinued):
Nylon Line Installation:
1. Shut engine off. Lay unit on the ground with head assembly up.
2. Press tab in housing and twist cover counter clockwise to align arrows and remove cover and button.
3. Use one piece of new nylon line (20 ft.) long and thread through the molded loop on the spool. Pull line tight and adjust so one end is 6 in. longer than the other.
4. Hold spool with words "THIS SIDE UP" facing you. Place index finger between the strands and wind line tightly and evenly in the direction of arrow on spool (clockwise).
5. Place ends of line in the two notches molded in the spool with 5 to 6 in. protruding.
6. Thread line end through housing eyelets. Install spool into housing over spring and be sure spool is installed so that the words "THIS SIDE UP" are visible.
7. Place button and cover on spool and align arrows. Push down on cover and twist cover clockwise until tab locks cover in place.
8. Before using, test head. Push center button while pulling on line. Trimmer line should advance approximately one inch.

ECHO U-Turn™ Trimmer Head (Part #99944200900) (SRM Models) (Discontinued):
Nylon Line Installation:
1. Hold drum securely. Push spool in and turn clockwise until locking peg clicks.
2.Pull spool out of drum. Clear any remaining line or debris from spool and drum.
3. Align pegs on inner drive with grooves in spool and install spool onto drum. Do not push down the spool. Turn spool counter clockwise until locking pegs clicks into hole in spool.
4. Align arrows on spool with marks on drum.
5. Insert two ends of one 24-foot piece of 0.80-0.95" nylon trimmer line into holes on sides of drum.
6. Hold drum securely and turn spool clockwise to wind line onto spool.
7. Cut remaining line loop to separate into two pieces.

SRM Manual Dual Line Trimmer Head (Part #21560060) (SRM Models) (Discontinued):
Nylon Line Installation:
1. Shut engine off, and disconnect spark plug wire. Lay unit on ground with trimmer head assembly up.
2. Hold drum firmly and turn knob clockwise. Remove knob and spring.
3. Pull spool and drum and pull drum off mounting shaft.
4. Use one piece of new nylon line (20 ft.) long and thread through the modled loop on the spool. Pull line tight and adjust so one end (6 in.) longer than the other.
5. Hold the spool. pegs toward you. Place index finger between the two strands and wind line tightly and evenly in the direction of arrow. Avoid twisting lines.
6. Place ends of lines into notches ins spool, leaving 6 in. protruding.
7. Place spool over drum, Feed ends of line outward through eyelets in drum.
8. Hold spool and drum securely with one hand and pull each line to disengage from notches.
9. Slid drum and spool onto mounting shaft.
10. Place spring over mounting shaft and secure spool with knob. Turn knob clounterclockwise to tighten.
11. Trim lines to 8 in. length.

High Capacity Manual Trimmer Head ( Part #21560065) (SRM & PAS Models)
Nylon Line Installation:
1. Shut engine off, and disconnect spark plug wire. Lay unit on ground with trimmer head assembly up.
2. Hold drum firmly and turb knob clockwise. Remove knob and spring.
3. Pull spool and drum and pull drum off mounting shaft.
4. Use one piece of new nylon line and thread through the molded loop on the spool.
5. Hold the spool, pegs towards you. Place index finger between the two strands, and wind line tighlt and evenly in the direction of the arrow. Avoid twisting lines.
6. Place ends of the lines into notches in spool, leaving 6 in. protruding.
7. Place spool over drum, feed ends of the line outward through eyelets in drum.
8. Hold spool and drum securely with one hand, and pull each line to disengage from notches.
9. Slide drum and spool onto mounting shaft.

Nylon Line Installation:

2. Place ends of two 15 ft. x 0.95 in. trimmer lines into holes in spool, one on each side of barrier.
3. Wind both lines tightly and evenly (one on each side of barrier) in the direction of arrow on bottom of spool.
4. Place ends of lines into notches in spool, leaving 6 in. protruding.
5. Feed ends of line outward through eyelets in drum.
6. Turn inner drive so that pegs in drive align with grooves in spool, and push spool into drum.
7. Hold spool and drum securely with one hand and pull each line to disengage from notches.
8. Hold drum and twist spool counter clockwise until peg clicks into hole.
9. Trim lines to 8 in. length.

Installing 1st line:
Holds four pieces of trimmer line (.103")
1. Insert one end between the lugs in position A leaving a 4 in. extension. Insert the other end of the line into position B also leaving a 4 in. extension.
Installing 2nd line:
1. Feed one end under the loop in the center of the first line and insert between the legs in position C leaving a 4 in. extension.
2. Insert the remaining end btween the legs in position D leaving a 4 in. extension. The lines should now be interlocked in the center as illustrated.
3. Adjust the length of all four lines to 4 in., cutting off surplus line as necessary.
